DOROTA WÓJCIK – soprano
Ms. Wojcik graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Łódź under the tutelage of Professor Halina Romanowska.
She has been a prize winner in numerous vocal competitions, including International Vocal Competition of Jan Kiepura in Krynica, International Adam Didur Opera Singers’ Competition, and The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra competition (recording prize). She has received scholarships and awards from the Polish Ministry of Culture, Home Concert Office, Silesia Art Agency, and Association of Polish Musicians, among others. She has been a student and protégé of soprano Teresa Żylis-Gara, which whom she sang on multiply occasions, most notably in a concert in honor of Prince Albert of Monaco.
Ms. Wojcik made her operatic debut as Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen at the Łódź Grand Opera Theater while still a student and has sung this role in numerous productions in Poland and abroad (in Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, and South America). From the beginning of her artistic career, she has been associated with the Łódź Grand Opera Theater where she created her greatest opera roles. In her repertoire, she has over 50 titles of operatic, operetta, and musical theater parts, with over 40 leading roles. She also performs oratorio repertoire in concert halls of symphony orchestras: in Łódź, Kraków, Częstochowa, Wrocław, Lublin, Zielona Góra, and Kalisz.

Major artistic events and accomplishments

This production received the Golden Mask of Journalists award as the event of the 2008 season at the Łódź Grand Opera Theatre. This production went on tour abroad to the Netherlands and Germany.
F. Offenbach – Les Contes d’Hoffman – ANTONIA
For this role, Ms. Wojcik was awarded the Golden Mask of Journalists for the best opera performance of the 2007/2008 season.

With this production, Ms. Wojcik celebrated the 25th anniversary of her artistic work on the stage of the Łódź Grand Opera Theatre.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Łódź Grand Opera Theatre, she portrayed the title role of Halka in the new production of Moniuszko’s opera. She also recorded Andrzej Krauze’s vocalize “Ave Maria” for a documentary film dedicated to Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński.
Ms. Wojcik has appeared in music festivals in Cieszyn (Viva il canto), opera festivals in Xanten, Saltzburg, and the Royal Lazienki Theater in Warsaw. As a guest artist, she has performed in opera theaters in Warsaw, Wroclaw, Cracow, Poznan, Gdansk, and Bydgoszcz.
She has sung with many distinguished conductors, such as Kazimierz Kord , Antonii Wit, Antoni Wicherek, Tadeusz Kozłowski, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Andrzej Straszyński, Wojciech Michniewski, Łukasz Borowicz, Jose Maria Florencio, Yaacov Bergman, among others.
She has worked with renowned stage directors: Maciej Prus, Adam Hanuszkiewicz, Laco Adamik, Achim Freyer, Michał Znaniecki, Waldemar Zawodziński, Frank-Bernd Gottschalk, Giorgio Madia, and Karolina Sofulak.

In 2005, 2008, and 2015 Ms. Wojcik received the Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship Award for her overall artistic achievements as well as her pedagogical work.
In 2012, he received the ZASP (Association of Polish Theater Artists) Award for her contributions to the Polish Culture.
In 2013 she was awarded a special honorary medal for contributions to Polish Culture, by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
In 2018, she received the most prestigious decoration bestowed by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, a Gloria Artis Medal for Merit to Culture, for her distinguished contributions to Polish Arts and Culture.
In 2017, Ms. Wojcik received her doctorate in vocal arts from the Lodz University of Music and has been since then teaching voice and opera in the Drama and Voice Department.
In 2024 Dorota Wójcik received her professor degree in vocal arts.
